Pat Summit reached the 1,000 win mark in Division I college basketball tonight.... something nobody else has ever done.
She said she did it by getting great people on her team and letting them do their thing. Yes Pat... that is the winning formula in most any area of competition be it business or sports, but I know you added your support, guidance, encouragement, and leadership too.
Here is a bit of trivia... I went to Grade School with Andy Landers, the coach of the Georgia team that was defeated tonight and we played basketball together. He was a guard and so was I. He was one year ahead of me so I guess you could say either me or Kenny Davis, the other guard on our team, took his place on the basketball team after he left grade school.
But don't feel too sorry for Andy because...
"No coach has beaten Summitt more than Landers, whose hometown is a short drive away from Knoxville and who used to scrimmage the Lady Vols when he was at a nearby community college. His Lady Bulldogs came in hot, having won four straight in a streak that included wins over Vanderbilt and Auburn after those teams had beaten Tennessee."

That is great for Pat. And that everyone is acknowledging the accomplishment is very good as I thought maybe people would consider it less than the same for the mens.
